ABOUT DR. DUFFY
Sustainable Impact’s principal, Dr. Sheila Bliss Duffy fosters organizations and individuals to address social issues in innovative ways.
Dr. Duffy is a dynamic program/project manager, educator, consultant, and coach who equips her clients to create organizations, programs, projects, businesses, and careers that make social impacts.
Her experience in the field and collaborative approach enable her to expertly build her client's capacity to effectively address real-world challenges.
As an applied system scientist, Dr. Duffy brings focus and flow to complex social issues including, poverty alleviation, job creation, livelihood development, income generation, enterprise development, food security, natural resource conservation, and community development. She is adept at designing and conducting applied research with a qualitative emphasis.
Dr. Duffy has a track record of facilitating academic institutions, development and conservation organizations, community groups, businesses and individual change agents in both the public and private sector including: Impact Group, John F. Kennedy University, New United Motors Manufacturing Inc., Dominican University of California, Banyan Global, University of California-Berkeley, University of California-Davis, United States Peace Corps, World Wildlife Fund, The Nature Conservancy, and World Resources Institute, Texas A&M University, Mississippi Consortium for International Development and The United Way.
Dr. Duffy holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Education and certificate in International Agriculture and Resource Management from Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, where she was trained by prominent professors including Norman Borlaug, the “Father of the Green Revolution.”
An MS in International Business from Saint Mary’s College, Moraga, CA and BA in Business Administration from Stephens College, Columbia, MO ground her in the principles and practices of business start-up and management and program/project assessment, design, management and evaluation.
Dr. Duffy’s training as a coach by the Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara and certifications as an ICF Professional Coach and Job and Career Transition Coach enable her to expertly move people from intention to action.
She is a former stockbroker, Returned Peace Corps Volunteer and is fluent in Spanish.

Manage university service learning program that requires students to perform 30 hours of service learning in community project prior to graduation
Ensure successful career transition corporate employees' spouses relocating to US
Manage 140 unit residential real estate business to goals and budget. Increased profits by 60% in three years. Developed strategic vision and operating procedures and oversee financial management, staff, contractors.
Managed 24/7 in-home care for senior for four years including medical, staffing/payroll, nutrition, and social activities
Co-created professional development program for Dominican University of California’s Green MBA Program including guide and webinars
Mentored 35 Green MBA students to pursue their educational and vocational goals
Assisted 34 former auto workers to position themselves for new jobs and careers
